Orré Clothing Private Limited was founded on a simple observation. The shirt is among the most frequently worn garments in a wardrobe, and among the most frequently replaced.
Fibre choice determines much of its footprint and much of its lifespan. We started with that question, and it led us to hemp.
Orré is an early-stage label. It began as a design question: what would a shirt look like if the cloth came first?
Hemp offered a credible answer. It is a resource-efficient fibre with the strength and character to carry a considered shirt.
Hemp requires far less water than cotton and yields a long, strong fibre. Woven well, it produces cloth that is breathable in warm weather and improves with wear.
It is not a new idea, but it remains under-used in contemporary menswear. That is the opening we intend to work in.
We begin with the cloth and design the shirt around it. Collections will be small and produced in limited runs, which keeps quality high and waste low.
We are evaluating Indian mills that work with hemp and hemp blends., several of which accept small order quantities.
We are at the design and fabric-development stage, and no collection is on sale yet. We would rather be exact about where we stand than overstate it.
As we confirm mills, certifications and measured figures, we will publish them here.
The cloth sets the standard. Design follows from what the fibre does best.
Limited production keeps quality consistent and reduces unsold stock.
